VOLUNTEERTwo pillars of the mission statement of the Historic Village in Ocean View are to interpret and celebrate the history of Ocean View and the surrounding area of Baltimore Hundred. We offer our heartfelt thanks to our current volunteers and welcome new folks to come join us. For more information, contact our Volunteer Coordinator if you are interested in any of the opportunities below. |
We need docents to act as guides in our historic buildings, sharing the unique history of our area. We have visitors from all over the world come to learn about us. We provide an opportunity for residents new to southern Sussex County Delaware to learn about their chosen home.
We typically open our Village on Wednesday mornings during the summer months. We also open whenever the town of Ocean View holds events in John West Park. Docents are needed anytime the Village is open.
We provide training and you can volunteer as many hours as you wish while learning more about our rich history.
As an all-volunteer non-profit organization, we are dependent on the time, talent, and selfless service of individuals or groups who want to help us fulfill our mission. Given the size of our Village and all that is entailed in its operation, our long-term goal is to divide the necessary work between various committees and the Board of Trustees. Each Committee Chair will then report on their progress and needs to the Board at regular frequencies. Our hope is a member of the Board of Trustees will serve as a liaison on each committee as an ex-officio non-voting member. We are working out these logistics and will post more information as it becomes available.
